Problem with wii remotes?

First of all, I've switched batteries probably 3 times... and nothing seems to help it. The console boots up as normal and doesn't seem to have signs of difficulties, but BOTH my wii controls will not respond, I've tried syncing, battery switching, unpulgging the wii, hit the backside of the controller, nothing will help it. The blue lights that normal signify which player you will be and show that the wii remote is working are completely offline, they will not light up at all. They basically just won't respond. How do I go about fixing them? Do I have to send them to nintendo? My controllers are about 1year old but have never been too mistreated or damaged. I've never previously had this problem, any help is much appreciated. I look forward to your replies.
