MUP.SYS error How do i fix it???????

Hi, I have recently come accross this error while my Laptop reboots into safe mode. I have the option for safe mode, safe mode with networking etc etc. but no matter which one i chose it freezes at mup.sys. I dont know what to try next. I replaced the HDD and to no avail along with taking out my CD-ROM drive.....nothing. I used a reboot cd to had to write over my HDD and after this when i turned my laptop back on still nothing. have read like 1000 forum posts put again nothing. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?
